LUCKNOW, UTTAR PRADESH – Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has expressed deep concern and anger over the stampede tragedy during the Maha Kumbh, questioning the Uttar Pradesh government's handling of the event.
Speaking out about the incident, Yadav accused the state government of misleading the public by showcasing an image of excellent arrangements through newspapers and TV, which ultimately failed to match the reality on the ground.

“The way the government was promoting the Maha Kumbh through newspapers and TV made the public believe that the arrangements were going to be very good. This is the most expensive Maha Kumbh ever organized,” Yadav said. “We got to know that around Rs 10,000 crore have been spent, but it’s sad that so many people lost their lives in the stampede. The number is still not clear.”
Yadav further emphasized that the government must provide transparency regarding the actual number of casualties and ensure proper assistance to the families of the victims, particularly those who traveled from other states. He called for the authorities to take responsibility and help the grieving families during this tragic time.
