Bangkok | Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a grand welcome from the Indian diaspora as he arrived at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, on Thursday. Modi is on a two-day visit to attend the 6th Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Summit.
During his visit, Modi is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with his Thai counterpart, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, focusing on trade, investment, and regional cooperation. The discussions are expected to strengthen India-Thailand ties and enhance collaboration within the BIMSTEC framework.
The BIMSTEC summit brings together leaders from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand, aiming to boost regional economic integration and connectivity. Modi’s participation underscores India’s commitment to strengthening ties with Southeast Asian nations and reinforcing the Act East policy.
