New Delhi | Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday shared his admiration for the Thai adaptation of the Ramayana, Ramakien, calling it an enriching experience that underscores the deep cultural and civilizational ties between India and Thailand.
Taking to social media, Modi wrote, "A cultural connect like no other! Witnessed a captivating performance of the Thai Ramayana, Ramakien. It was a truly enriching experience that beautifully showcased the shared cultural and civilisational ties between India and Thailand."
He highlighted how the Ramayana’s legacy extends beyond India, connecting diverse cultures across Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Malaysia. "The Ramayana truly continues to connect hearts and traditions across so many parts of Asia," he added.
The Ramakien, Thailand’s version of the epic Ramayana, retains core elements of the Indian classic while incorporating Thai cultural influences. Modi’s remarks reflect India's focus on strengthening historical and cultural diplomacy, reinforcing age-old ties with Asian nations through shared heritage.
