Patna, Bihar: Prashant Kishor, the founder of Jan Suraaj Party, has strongly opposed the Waqf Amendment Bill, stating that the legislation is being pushed without proper consultation with the affected community.
"It is unfortunate. I don’t see this as against Muslims or Hindus… But if you deviate from the commitments and assurances that our founding fathers gave to different sections of this country after independence, then it becomes the responsibility of this generation to be truthful to those commitments," Kishor said.
He argued that the government is acting in haste, failing to address the concerns of the Muslim community. "A large section of Muslims feel threatened by the Waqf Bill. I feel the government is pushing this law for the politics of polarisation," he added.
Kishor also took aim at Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, blaming him for enabling the passage of the Bill. "The BJP doesn’t consider Muslims their vote bank, but leaders like Nitish Kumar, who claim to be well-wishers of the Muslim community, should reflect on their hypocrisy. If leaders like him hadn’t voted in favor of this Bill, the government couldn’t have passed it," he stated.
