Independence day: Bands should only play ‘patriotic songs’

The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed states and UTs to promote patriotic/national solidarity messages and songs on social media and organise some cultural programmes to enhance mutual understanding.

The central government has announced a major decision. The country will celebrate its 76th Independence Day on August 15. Ahead of this year's Independence Day celebrations, the Centre has issued special instructions to the bands of the governor and lieutenant governor's house to "play only patriotic music".
