TRINDAD AND TOBAGO’S OPPOSITION LEADER RESPONDS TO PARLIAMENT MOTION RULING

BY A STAFF REPORTER: Opposition Leader Kamla Persad Bissessar has described Thursday as a dark day in Democracy as she expressed her feelings of what took place in the House of Representatives as the motion she attempted to file against the President was interrupted and adjourned.
The Opposition Leader also announced what she called the start of an October revolution that will involve strategies to “defend democracy” in T&T. She said it will involve taking this matter to the people.
Moreover, the UNC head said the vote, taken by the electoral college to determine whether a tribunal would be set up to investigate the President, was sabotaged because it was not done in secret. She also slammed the fact that there was no debate on the issue to allow the UNC to persuade Independent Senators to vote otherwise.
