Kolkata: The RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape and murder case in West Bengal has taken a dramatic turn as the victim’s mother has publicly accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of misleading statements and attempting to undermine the case. On September 9th, the victim's mother expressed her frustration and anger over the handling of the case, alleging that she was offered money by the Chief Minister to placate her.

The grieving mother revealed that Banerjee had suggested using the money to create a memorial for her daughter, but she refused, stating that she would only accept the funds once justice was achieved. "My daughter will not return, and I will not lie in her name. The Chief Minister offered money and suggested making something in my daughter's memory, but I said that I would only accept it when my daughter gets justice," she asserted.

She further criticized the Chief Minister for attempting to stifle the movement for justice, likening it to how her daughter was tragically strangled and alleging that evidence in the case has been tampered with. "The Chief Minister is trying to strangle the movement just like how my daughter was strangled, and the evidence was destroyed," she said.

Expressing her deep anguish, the victim's mother declared that Durga Puja, a festival her daughter used to celebrate, will no longer be observed in her home. "Durga Puja was celebrated in my house, and my daughter used to do it herself, but it will never be celebrated again. How can I tell people to return to the festival?" she questioned.

Determined to seek justice, she vowed to continue her protest until the case is resolved. "We will be on the road, we will be in the movement until we get justice," she affirmed. The case has ignited significant public and political attention, with ongoing demonstrations and demands for accountability.
