Priyanka Chaturvedi Welcomes SC Verdict Quashing FIR Against Congress MP

Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision to quash the FIR against Congress MP Imran Pratapgarhi, calling it a step against growing intolerance towards creative expression.

“The Supreme Court has made a very good decision, and I wholeheartedly welcome it. Today, the government has become intolerant towards poetry, shayari, and comedy, rushing to courts to file appeals and FIRs—this is shameful,” Chaturvedi stated.

She further criticized the recent trend of legal action against artists and performers, particularly in Maharashtra, where controversies over stand-up comedy have even reached the state assembly. “Hopefully, after this verdict, people will learn a lesson, especially in Maharashtra, where unnecessary chaos is being created over a stand-up comedian. This verdict should put an end to the frenzy of filing FIRs over such matters,” she added.
