Bengaluru: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has strongly refuted claims that the North has dominated the South, calling such assertions completely wrong. Speaking in Karnataka, he highlighted the significant spiritual and religious contributions of South India to the rest of the country.

"It is unfortunate that some people say that the North has dominated the South in many matters. This is completely wrong. The land of Karnataka itself is proof that the South has given a new direction to the North in the field of religion and spirituality many times," Singh stated.

His remarks come amid ongoing debates on regional disparities in governance, economy, and representation. Singh emphasized that Karnataka, home to spiritual luminaries like Basavanna, Madhvacharya, and the great temples of Hampi and Shravanabelagola, has played a pivotal role in shaping India's religious and philosophical traditions.

His statement is seen as an effort to bridge regional divides and reinforce the idea of national unity, acknowledging the South’s profound impact on India's cultural and spiritual heritage.
