Biden and emir discussed efforts to broker permanent ceasefire in Gaza

BY A STAFF REPORTER: US President Joe Biden has called Qatar's Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to discuss the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip.

The statement said the two discussed "joint mediation efforts to calm the situation and reach a permanent ceasefire."

There was no immediate comment from the White House.
