In response to the catastrophic earthquake that struck Myanmar on 28th March 2025, India has launched Operation Brahma, a comprehensive humanitarian mission to provide critical assistance. The operation, spearheaded by the Indian government, includes search and rescue (SAR) teams, medical aid, and essential relief supplies to support affected communities.

The earthquake, which registered a magnitude of 7.2, has caused widespread destruction in Myanmar, particularly in regions close to Mandalay and Yangon. Thousands have been displaced, and the death toll is feared to rise as rescue efforts continue. In the wake of this disaster, the Indian Embassy in Yangon and the Consulate General in Mandalay have been actively coordinating relief efforts.

Under Operation Brahma, Indian Air Force aircraft carrying emergency supplies, including food, water, medicines, and temporary shelters, have been dispatched. Specialized teams trained in disaster response have also been deployed to assist in rescue operations. Medical personnel are working to provide urgent care to the injured, while logistical support is being extended to help restore essential services.

India’s swift response underscores its commitment to regional cooperation and humanitarian assistance. The initiative has been widely appreciated, with both governments working closely to ensure the effective distribution of aid. Images from the operation highlight the extensive efforts undertaken by Indian officials and rescue teams on the ground.
