Prayagraj—The Maha Kumbh 2025 has witnessed an unprecedented gathering of devotees, with Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar confirming that over 46-47 crore pilgrims have taken the holy dip so far. Speaking about the arrangements, he emphasized the smooth execution of crowd management strategies despite the massive influx of people.
"The last snan on Basant Panchami was an 'amrit snan'. Today’s snan is the fifth one. The arrangements remain the same as before, but we have adapted to the increasing number of pilgrims," said DGP Kumar. He noted that while a significant number of devotees initially arrived in organized groups, more are now reaching the Kumbh area in private vehicles, prompting officials to adjust their approach.
"Every day, nearly 1 lakh vehicles entered the Kumbh area. We modified our strategy and redeployed manpower accordingly, which has helped ensure that the pilgrimage proceeds smoothly," he added. By noon today, over 1.5 crore people had taken the holy dip, demonstrating the immense scale of the religious gathering.
