BY A STAFF REPORTER: Shortly after Arvind Kejriwal's arrest, Tehseen Poonawalla on Thursday condemned the arrest and remarked that ED is acting like an arm of the BJP or Bajrang Dal.
Tehseen Poonawalla emphasized that Arvind Kejriwal's arrest makes every citizen extremely worried. He further accused the ED of following the political instructions of ED and not adhering to the Indian Constitution. Poonawalla also recalled that the Congress Party accused the BJP-led Central government has frozen the bank accounts of Opposition parties. He further emphasized that all incidents are occurring as the elections are around the corner.
Poonawalla urged ECI to step in and 'stop' whatever is happening. He also requested the Supreme Court to review the issue and prevent this arbitrary behavior by law enforcement agencies like ED.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal will soon be shifted to the ED Headquarters. He will produced in the PMLA court tomorrow. It is yet to be ascertained if he will be produced physically or virtually.
Furthermore, Delhi Minister Atishi informed presspersons that Arvind Kejriwal will run the office during his custody.
The Enforcement Directorate arrested Delhi CM and AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal from his residence in connection with the Delhi Liquorgate case. He was arrested following search operations and Interrogations conducted by the ED at his residence on Thursday evening.
Arvind Kejriwal is the second sitting CM arrested by the ED in the last two months. Earlier, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren was arrested on 31st January by the ED in connection with the Land Scam and Mining Scam cases.
