New Delhi: In a significant move to boost employment and industrial growth, the government has expanded its focus on the electronics, textiles, and garments sectors, aiming to strengthen the entire electronics manufacturing value chain.
During a Cabinet briefing, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the importance of these industries in job creation. “Electronics, textiles, and garments are sectors that generate a huge amount of employment. That’s why a historic decision has been taken today to further grow these industries within the complete electronics manufacturing value chain,” he stated.
Vaishnaw emphasized the progress India has made in semiconductor manufacturing and the success of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme in finished product manufacturing. He announced that the government is now extending support to sub-assemblies and bare components, marking a new phase in India’s electronics manufacturing strategy.
Experts believe this move will enhance India’s self-reliance in electronics production, reduce import dependency, and create thousands of new jobs. The expansion aligns with the government’s "Make in India" and "Atmanirbhar Bharat" initiatives, ensuring a robust ecosystem for domestic manufacturing.
The decision is expected to attract fresh investments in the sector, fostering innovation and positioning India as a key player in the global supply chain for electronics and textiles.
