Durgapur: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her frustration with the central government over the ongoing flood crisis in the state. She accused the DVC (Damodar Valley Corporation) and relevant ministries of inaction, claiming they have ignored repeated requests for dredging and proper water management.
"I have written twice to PM Modi. Our delegation has visited the Jal Shakti and Power Ministries, but they are doing nothing. Bengal is drowning, and the DVC is not taking responsibility," Banerjee said. She alleged that the release of excess water was deliberate, causing loss of life and damaging crops.
Banerjee assured the farmers that the state government would provide full compensation under the crop insurance scheme and announced a review of rural roads. "Relief work will continue," she added, emphasizing the state's commitment to recovery efforts.
