By a Staff Reporter: The union finance ministry has clamped down on fake invoices and arrested three persons. According to highly placed sources in the GST in Kolkata, officials got wind of fake invoices and began investigations.

“On close scrutiny we found that many of the invoices were fake and scamsters were committing financial fraud. We carried out detailed inspection and nailed the racket,'' a senior GST official told ANM News.

Officials claimed three persons have been arrested. Companies have been evading the GST dragnet by opening fake companies, taking credit and vanishing, duping the government. The GST has decided to clamp down on benami and fake companies and has formed special investigative teams to track them down. “But the problem is after 60 days, the arrested accused person gets bail. We file the chargesheet and supplementary chargesheet after completion of investigations”, the official said.
