BY A STAFF REPORTER: Ramakrishna Paramahansadeva was born into a Brahmin family in a small rural village in Bengal. On the other hand, Vivekananda aka Narendranath Dutta was born in a noble Bengali Kayastha family in Calcutta.
It is known that the relationship between Ramakrishna and Vivekananda began in November 1881, when they met at Surendra Nath Mitra's house. Ramakrishna asked Narendranath to sing. Impressed by his singing talent, he invited him to Dakshineshwar. Narendra accepted the invitation, and the meeting proved to be a turning point in Narendranath's life. Initially Narendra did not accept Ramakrishna as his guru and considered him a "maniac", but he eventually became one of the closest people in his life. Ramakrishna is said to have shaped Narendranath's personality and prepared him to dedicate his life to the service of humanity. After Ramakrishna's death, Narendra and his other monastic disciples established their first monastery at Baranagar.
