Journalist Attacked By Goons In Coimbatore

BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a tragic incident, goons reportedly attacked a reporter with sickles and knives as he was reporting government-run liquor beverage shops' illegal sale of alcohol in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore on Thursday.

The journalist named, Nesaprabu, sought police help and called the police control room after realizing that he was being stalked by goons. Subsequently, the call was transferred to Kamanaickenpalayam police station. However, the Kamanaickenpalayam police station asked Nesaprabu to visit the police station physically and register a written complaint. The journalist suffered severe injuries and is currently in a private hospital. He works for a Tamil News channel named 'News 7 Tamil'.

Furthermore, Chief Minister MK Stalin has announced an ex-gratia of Rs. three lakh to Nesaprabu. Moreover, the Kamanaickenpalayam station's inspector has been added to the mandatory waitlist.
