BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a letter addressed to MoS for External Affairs Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shobha Karandlaje requested DGCA authorization of Central Agricultural University, Imphal as an RPTO for the training of SHG members under the Namo Drone Scheme.
Furthermore, Karandlaje also requested the allocation of resources to train 50 women to lead Self-help groups/NGOs from Manipur under the Namo Drone Scheme.
Moreover, one of the members of SHGs will be trained for 15 days consisting of 10-day pilot training and five-day training for nutrient and pesticide application. The training will be provided by Drone manufacturers through the Remote Pilot Training Organization (RPTO) approved by the Director General of Civil Aviation.
Further, the letter mentioned that the government approved the 'Namo Drone Didi' scheme for providing drones to the Women Self Help Groups with a budget of Rs. 1,261 crores. The scheme will provide drones to 15,000 selected Women SHGs to provide rental services to farmers for agricultural purposes.
