Panchayat polls: Huge cache of arms recovered in Bengal

BY A STAFF REPORTER: Four days before the polls, a large number of weapons, including pistols and cartridges, were recovered from Bengal. The Bengal STF's operation was a big success. Besides recovering arms, the STF has also arrested an arms dealer. On Tuesday, the STF released a photograph of the weapon. According to reports, the businessman was arrested from Goalpokhar police station area of North Dinajpur. Five 7mm pistols, 10 rounds of cartridges, three single shot pipe guns, 80 rounds of 7.65 mm cartridges, 100 rounds of 8 mm cartridges were recovered. Further investigation into the incident is underway, the STF said.
