Six Injured As Assam Rifles Soldier Shoots Colleagues And Self

BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a shocking incident, A soldier of Assam Rifles opened fire on his colleagues and later shot himself on Wednesday. Six were left injured in the incident in South Manipur. 

the accident occured near India-Myanmaar border where the Battalion of Assam Rifles was posted. As per reports, the injured soldiers were not native of Manipur. Moreover, they were taken to Churachandpur's military hospital for treatment. Although, all injured soldiers are now stable. An investigation into the matter is underway. According to Inspectorate General's statement, the incident is not related to the ongoing conflict in Manipur. 

An ethnic conflict between Meitei and Kuki-zo tribal communities is going on in Manipur since May 2023.
